The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation was mandated by congress to lead a nationwide effort to remember America's fallen firefighters. Since 1992, the tax-exempt, 501(c)3 nonprofit Foundation has developed and expanded programs to honor our fallen fire heroes and assist their families and co-workers. Which includes being a liaison for fire hero families and the fire department for immediate support and fire hero families ongoing care.

A hotline has been setup for families and departments to notify the NFFF immediately after the loss of their fire hero to help the fire hero families access to the benefits, programs and resources after their loss. https://www.firehero.org/resources/handling-a-LODD/#
